The Anambra State Government has received two pickup vehicles donated by the Igboukwu community to strengthen security under the Public-Private-Community-Partnership model in the area.
The donation underscores the growing role of the PPCP model in mobilizing resources to support public development across the state.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Governor Chukwuma Soludo thanked the community for the donation and for their support to ensure a water tight security in the state.
Describing Igboukwu as a great community, he acknowledged its contributions to the development of the state and challenged wealthy residents of the community to do more for the town under the PPCP framework.
Governor Soludo further stressed that the partnership with the community exemplifies the kind of civic engagement needed to sustain long-term progress and reshape Anambra.
The Governor added that he had reciprocated the gesture by appointing indigenes of the community to positions in his cabinet.
Earlier in a speech ,the President General of Igboukwu community, Chief Ubah Ezeakalugo commended the state government’s economic reforms, road infrastructure, education initiatives, and other developmental strides in Igboukwu and neighboring communities.
He pleaded on the state government to intervene in the erosion threatening Igboukwu, which he said is destroying roads and farmlands.
Correspondent Ben Ilechukwu reports that the delegation was led by the traditional ruler of Igboukwu, Alexander Ejikemeuwa Azike, Idu III of Igbo-Ukwu, also known as Igwe-Ohazulume.
