The Federal Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, RMAFC, has solicited the cooperation of Abia State to ensure the success of the planned national data verification on revenue mobilisation and allocation.
The Chairman of RMAFC, Dr Muhammad Shehu, made the appeal when he led a delegation of the commission on a courtesy visit to Governor Alex Otti of Abia state at his country home Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area.
He explained that the exercise would involve the review and update of the data used in revenue allocation between the Federal, State and local governments.
Dr Shehu who was represented by the Federal Commissioner representing Ekiti State at the Commission, Mrs Omowumi Ogunlola appealed to Abia State Government to provide access to relevant data and records and designate competent liaison officers to work with the Commission’s team.
According to him, Nigeria’s revenue allocation system is built on a set of parameters and indices designed to ensure fairness, equity, and justice in the distribution of National resources.
Responding, Governor Alex Otti, pledged the support of the state government to ensure a successful exercise by the commission in Abia State.
The Governor explained that relevant Ministries, Departments, and Agencies ,MDAs, had already been directed to provide all necessary information and support required for the successful conduct of the exercise in the state.
