The Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development in Anambra State, Patrick Agha -Mba, has pledged to be accountable and open to constructive criticisms in the collective pursuit of sports excellence in the state.
Mba made the pledge while addressing chairmen of various sports associations and the media in Awka.
He commended their sustained contributions to the growth of sports in the state and called for their continued collaboration and support, describing it as crucial to realizing the state government’s objectives in the sports sector.
The Commissioner said the present administration will make effort for the potential of the sector to be fully harnessed.
He said the ministry is ready to work with all relevant stakeholders to position Anambra State and the Southeast region as a leading hub for sports development, talent discovery, and economic opportunities in Nigeria.
Mba disclosed that Governor Soludo is intentional about youth empowerment, with plans underway to empower Local Government Councils to take charge of sports at the grassroots.
