The Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Mr Somtochukwu Udeze, has felicitated fathers across Nigeria on the 2026 International Father’s Day celebration, urging them to remain committed to the sacred responsibility of raising disciplined, responsible and God-fearing children.
In a goodwill message made available by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Emma Madu, the Speaker extolled fathers who dedicate themselves to nurturing confident, compassionate and productive children, describing fatherhood as a herculean yet rewarding task that contributes immensely to family stability and national development.
He stressed the need for deliberate and conscious efforts by fathers in providing the right training, exposure, and moral guidance that will make their children useful to themselves and the larger society.
Mr Udeze noted that a better society emerges when fathers rise to the demands of responsibility by guiding their children aright, preparing them for the future, and imparting enduring values such as discipline, integrity, respect and love through personal examples.
Mr Udeze further enjoined women and children to continue supporting fathers in their roles, while charging all fathers and parental figures to shun any acts capable of undermining their integrity.
He urged them to take full charge of their families by providing adequate protection, care and other necessary provisions at all times.
The Speaker prayed for divine empowerment for fathers, both spiritually and physically, to enable them discharge their onerous duties effectively.
