The Police Command in Anambra State has activated its Safe School Initiative operatives in a manhunt for a teacher who allegedly flogged a 12-year-old student to death at a school in Adazi-Ani, Anaocha Local Government Area.
The Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, ACP Harrison Oruruo, is leading the team.
According to a Press Statement reeased by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the incident was reported on the evening of Thursday, July 16, 2026.
The Press Release said police operatives from Neni Division responded promptly and rushed the victim to a hospital, where a medical doctor confirmed him dead on arrival.
The body has been deposited at the hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.
Preliminary observations revealed visible marks of violence on different parts of the deceased’s body.
The Command says the case is under active investigation and assures that anyone found culpable will be brought to justice.
The Command expressed deep concern and pledged a thorough, diligent, and transparent investigation.
It also reassured the family of the deceased and the public of its commitment to protecting school children through the Safe School Initiative.
