The Police Command in Anambra State says the principal suspect in the alleged flogging to death of a 12-year-old boy has surrendered following sustained manhunt operations.
The teacher Mrs. Dim Ebere, aged 47, voluntarily presented herself at the Neni Police Station after collaborative efforts by the Anambra State Police Command’s Safe School Protection Squad, officers of the Neni Divisional Police Headquarters, and continuous engagement with stakeholders and community leaders in Adazi-Ani.
The suspect is currently in police custody and will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Awka, where investigations will be concluded.
The Command commends the cooperation of the Adazi-Ani community, traditional rulers, and other stakeholders whose support contributed immensely to this positive outcome.
A Press Statement by the Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra state, Tochukwu Ikenga said that the family of the deceased and members of the public are assured that justice will be served.
The Police Command urged residents to remain calm, avoid jungle justice, and continue to provide useful information to aid security operations across the state.
