The Anambra State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to programmes that promote peace, security, and the welfare of the people.
The Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Chiamaka Nnake, gave the assurance when she received a delegation from the Anambra State Chapter of the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) at her office in Awka.
The delegation, led by the State Coordinator of POCACOV, HRM Igwe Daniel Obelle of Nawfia who was represented by Mr. Moses Ndukwu, briefed Mrs. Nnake on the group’s planned statewide advocacy and sensitization campaign.
The team highlighted the objectives of the exercise, which seeks to discourage cultism, substance abuse, cybercrime, violence, and other social vices among youths through sustained public enlightenment in schools, communities, religious institutions, and other public platforms.
Mrs. Nnake commended the Nigeria Police Force and POCACOV for the initiative and called for stronger collaboration among stakeholders to ensure its success.
The courtesy visit was in preparation for the arrival of the National Coordinator of POCACOV and the full rollout of the campaign across the state.
In a Press statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Command appreciated the State Government for its support and reiterated its commitment to using non-kinetic approaches, strategic partnerships, and community engagement to prevent crime and build a safer Anambra for all.
