Governor Chukwuma Soludo says his administration will not relent in strengthening the full implementation and prosecution of burial law in the area.

Governor Soludo stated this at Knights’ Day celebration held at St. Patrick’s Cathedral Awka.

Governor Soludo in his remarks spoke on the economic and social impact of Anambra’s Burial Law.

According to Governor Soludo who expressed concern that outside skilled laboureres are taking up local artisan jobs on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays because many residents remain occupied with burial activities.

To curb waste and protect citizens, the governor proposed tightening the law and strengthening its implementation to save the people from avoidable burdens.

Governor Soludo while stressing governance requires “the courage to implement change,”challenged those in government, the Knights, and the laity to reflect that same courage in their Christian witness.

He lauded Bishop Paulinus Ezeokafor for his leadership and public purpose, noting that progress often means doing what is right even when it is difficult.

The Governor further announced a crackdown on fraudulent religious leaders, revealing that several “fake pastors” who had been exploiting the public are now in state custody.

Earlier in a homily, Reverend Reverend Father Evaristus Iheanacho, the Diocesan Secretary stressed on the role of the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer.

Reverend Iheanacho described knighthood as a journey of “sober reflection, stock-taking, and reckoning.”

He reminded the order that knighthood is not just a title but a continuous “process of becoming” guided by sacred tenets, and urged them to understand their calling so they can teach others.
