The Director General National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu says the success of the NYSC scheme depends largely on the quality of collaboration among its critical stakeholders.
Brigadier General Nafiu was speaking at the 2026 Corps Employers Workshop held in Awka , Anambra State.
Brigadier General Nafiu who was represented by the Deputy Director NYSC South East Area Office 1 Enugu, Mrs Victoria Ike Nwosu urged Corps Employers to provide Corps Members with meaningful job assignments relevant to their qualifications and capabilities as well as offer them mentorship and opportunities for professional growth.
He stressed the importance of exposing corps members to practical learning experiences that would prepare them for future leadership roles and improve their employerbility beyond the service year.
In a keynote address the commissioner for Youth Development and Sports in Anambra State , Mr Patrick Agha-Mba noted that the Corps Employers were investing in the future workforce of the nation by providing mentorship and practical experience thereby shaping the next generation of professionals in the country.
The Commissioner who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mr Ifeatu Emordi explained that the Professor Chukwuma Soludo led administration in Anambra State recognises the importance of skilled manpower and has made unprecedented investment in youth development through the one youth two skills programme.
Earlier in an address of welcome, the Coordinator National Youth Service Corps Anambra State, Mrs Pauline Ojisua enjoined participants at the workshop to share practical ideas on how to improve the welfare and workplace experience of youth corps members.
