NAPTIP ARRESTS TWO SUSPECTS OVER ALLEGED SEXUAL EXPLOITATION OF BOYS, ATTEMPTED BABY SALE IN ABIA

‎Two suspects have been arrested in Abia State for their alleged involvement in sexual exploitation of underaged boys and attempted sale of a new born baby.
‎
‎The Commander, National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP, Abia State Command, Mr. Izunna Iwobi, made the revelation in Umuahia, during an interview with Radio Nigeria.
‎
‎Mr. Iwobi said the first suspect, a fifty six year old man from Umuoba in Isiala South Local Government Area, had for several years, allegedly been procuring underaged boys for sexual exploitation and is suspected to have infected some of his victims with several diseases, just as some were reportedly battling with mental health issues.
‎
‎The NAPTIP Commander said the suspect had for now, been remanded pending the conclusion of investigations after which he would be charged to court.
‎
‎According to Mr. Iwobi, the second suspect, a forty year old woman, was arrested at a hospital in Umuahia while attempting to convince a young girl to give up her new born baby for her to sell, under the guise that she would be adequately compensated.
‎
‎He explained that due to the nature of the cases, the identities of the suspects were yet to be made public for now.
‎
‎The NAPTIP Commander in Abia state appreciated those who provided the actionable intelligence that led to the arrest of the suspects and urged people to see themselves as partners with the agency in combating human trafficking and other related crimes.
