The Wife of the Anambra State Governor, Mrs Nonye Soludo, has called for renewed commitment to the protection of the dignity, rights and well-being of elderly citizens of the state.
In her message to mark this year’s World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, Mrs Soludo described elderly men and women as custodians of wisdom, culture and values who deserve to age with respect, care and security, free from neglect, discrimination and exploitation.
She urged families, communities and institutions to create an environment where older people feel valued, heard and adequately protected.
Mrs Soludo emphasized that the way society treats its elders is a true reflection of its humanity.
She called on all stakeholders to champion kindness, inclusion and support for elderly citizens so they can enjoy the dignity and quality of life they deserve.
