Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has announced plans for the development of a new industrial city and aerotropolis in the state.
Governor Soludo made the announcement shortly after an event while interacting with newsmen in Abagana,Njikoka Local Government Area.
The governor said the project is designed to create a well-planned industrial environment, unlike the uncoordinated pattern where factories, residential buildings, churches, filling stations and markets are located side by side.
He explained that the Anambra Mixed Industrial City, AMIC, covers between five and six thousand hectares of land and is already attracting investors and other visitors
Governor Soludo disclosed that major work on the airport and runway is expected to commence next month, while land clearing and road construction are already ongoing at the site.
He also announced the establishment of a dedicated power substation to provide electricity to the industrial city.
Correspondent Ben Ilechukwu reports that the governor called on the people of Anambra, both at home and in diaspora to return and take advantage of the investment opportunities in the state.
