Chief Chinedu Madubuko, has been installed as the new traditional ruler of Adazi-Ani, in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State .
Igwe Chinedu Madubuko, who assumes the royal title of Eze Chinechendo I of Adazi-Ani , takes the throne after emerging as the community’s new traditional ruler.
The coronation attracted a large crowd including traditional rulers from across Anambra State, top government functionaries, clergy, political leaders, businessmen, and sons and daughters of Adazi-Ani from Nigeria, and in the diaspora.
The investiture followed the formal recognition of Igwe Madubuko by the Anambra State Government.
On February 20, 2026, Governor Chukwuma Soludo presented him with a certificate of recognition alongside five other newly recognised traditional rulers in the state.
The grand coronation organized by the Adazi-Ani Town Union, ATU, took place at the Adazi-Ani Town Hall amid pomp and celebration and traditional splendor
The crowning and traditional rites were performed by the Onowu Ohazulunye of Adazi Ani ,Sir Augustine Okeke, the Igwe was conferred with all the traditional regalia including beads and staff of office accompanied with prayers for peace and prosperity during his reign.
Dressed in his full royal regalia of royal crown, beaded robes, coral beads, and royal staff of office, His Royal Majesty Chinedu Madubuko was formally presented to the people after the completion of all required traditional rites.
Overwhelmed Eze Chinechendo I expressed gratitude to God and to the people of Adazi-Ani for the confidence reposed in him, and promised to treat the community as his own family.
He pledged not to relent in providing the needed infrastructure and other amenities to improve the welfare of the people.
In his goodwill message, Governor Chukwuma Soludo who was visible happy congratulated the newly crowned Igwe.
Also speaking, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, Chief B.C. Igwilo, Ezeani Ikpeoma said he was delighted that the three clans of Adazi-Ani spoke with one voice to select, with integrity, Igwe Chinedu Madubuko as the new traditional ruler.
The Onowu of Adazi-Ani, Ezeugo Augustine Okeke, as well as the traditional rulers of Awba Ofemili ,His Royal Majesty, Igwe Ezekwesili Maduagwuna, and Ukwulu communities, Igwe Peter Uyanwa described the day as historic.
According to them, the new Igwe was chosen because of his proven track records in service, philanthropy, and love for Adazi-Ani both at home and in the diaspora.
Other Community leaders who spoke with Radio Nigeria including Iyom Nchekube Okechukwu, Chief Ekene Okonkwo and Mr Mike Okpala said that they expect the new Igwe to bring more development projects, ensure quick resolution of disputes, and raise the image of Adazi-Ani.
The Eze Chinechendo 1 of Adazi-ani coronation ceremony had Mr Uchenna Okeke as chairman of the organising committee.
