Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has inaugurated an Information and Communication Technology, ICT, Experience Centre at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State.
The facility, sponsored by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFund, was inaugurated by the First Lady’s during her official visit to the state.
Senator Tinubu, who was accompanied by the Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, and his wife, Dr. Nonye Soludo, described the centre as a major investment in the digital future of Nigerian youths.
She explained that the Centre, established under the Renewed Hope Initiative in collaboration with TETFund, is expected to provide students with access to modern digital resources and practical skills required to compete in the global economy.
In a remark the Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Chioma Awuzie, described the project as a landmark achievement for the institution.
According to Dr. Awuzie ,the centre will promote digital skills acquisition, entrepreneurship, innovation, employment opportunities, access to educational resources and networking for young Nigerians.
She, however, appealed for the intervention of the First Lady and other stakeholders in addressing some challenges facing the institution, particularly the erosion threatening parts of the Polytechnic.
Correspondent Ben Ilechukwu reports that the Wife of the Abia State Governor Mrs Priscilla Otti and other dignitaries witnessed the inauguration of the ICT Center.
