Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra Stat, has approved the appointment of Doctor Maureen Umeakuewulu as the new Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Teaching Hospital (COOUTH), Amaku, Anambra State.

In a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Christian Aburime, says the appointment takes effect from Friday, 13th March, 2026.

According to the statement, Doctor Umeakuewulu is a distinguished Nigerian physician and Senior Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with a special focus on Gynaecologic Oncology and women’s health at the National Hospital, Abuja.

It notes that she brings a wealth of clinical expertise and experience, having served at the National Hospital, Abuja, where she has made significant contributions to healthcare in Nigeria.

It indicates that Doctor Umeakuewulu is a Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons (FWACS), the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (FMCOG), and the International College of Surgeons (FICS)
