The All Progressives Congress party, APC in Abia State has conducted its state congress to elect members of the State Working Committee SWC and zonal leaders as the 2027 general elections gather momentum.
Speaking at the end of the congress in Umuahia, the Abia state capital, the leader of the congress and former Speaker Platue state, Chief Emmanuel Goar announced the emergence of Chief Chijioke Chukwu, Organizing Secretary Chief Emeka Okoroafor and the Legal Adviser, Mr Viginus amongst other members SWC members and zonal leaders through a consensus arrangement.
Chief Goar commended the party leaders and delegates for ensuring a peaceful exercise and described the congress as a demonstration of maturity and cohesion within the party in the state.
While describing the APC in Abia as determined to record victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, chief Goar noted that APC members were ready to take over the state government House.
In his remarks, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and leader of the party in Abia State, Chief Benjamin Kalu, applauded the newly elected officials and thanked the party stakeholders for the sacrifices exhibited to ensure the renewed unity within the party in the state.
The Deputy Speaker reminded the faithful of the Federal Government’s support to Abia State and advised them to reciprocate by delivering a resounding victory for President Tinubu to enable him to secure power in the state in 2027.
In his acceptance speech, the newly elected State Chairman, Chief Chijioke Chukwu, pledged to sustain the prevailing unity within the party and play inclusive politics across the state, noting that APC would work assiduously to win the confidence of Abia residents.
In their separate goodwill messages, a former House Member Dame Blessing Nwagba, an APC Chieftain, Chief Emeka Atuma and Chief Cosmos Ndukwe from Bende all commended President Ahmed Bola Tinubu for his gesture in the South East and assured him of 90 percent votes from Abia APC in 2027 general elections.
Correspondent Peace Agbo reports that the Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa and the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Chukwuemeka Chukwu all witnessed the congress in the state.
