The Anambra State government says it will engage experts in its relevant Ministries and agencies to design a permanent solution to the gully erosion at Ugamuma village in Obosi.
The Commissioner for Environment, Dr Clem Aguiyi, stated this after inspecting some erosion sites that have been ravaging Obosi community in Idemili North Local Government Area
Dr Aguiyi noted that with nearly 30 percent of Anambra’s land mass threatened by erosion, it might not be wrong to say that the state is sinking.
He described the campaign against erosion and environmental degradation as a fight for survival that demands urgent action from every citizen of the state.
The Commissioner commended Obosi community for mobilising resources to prevent further destruction of property and the environment by the erosion and assured that the State Ministries of Works, Environment and Physical Planning would work together to find a lasting intervention to the problem.

Earlier, the President General of Obosi Community, Mr Chimezie Obi, recounted the efforts made by the community to stop the expansion of different erosion sites in the area and suggested a permanent solution to the menace.
A leader in Obosi , Mr Eric Anyaemene, said the recent devastation by erosion in the community occurred within two hours and affected many property including houses.
