Henceforth all road designs and projects in Anambra State must include water discharging points.
This is to ensure that roads meant to serve the people does not end up creating gully erosions that will cost the state more funds to tackle.
The Commissioner for Works Mr Okechukwu Ezeobi stated this during an interaction with members of the Anambra state House of Assembly Committee on Works in Awka.
According to him, from now on,the state must first consider where water collected by the drainage channels will be discharged as the cost implication is cheaper than the cost of tackling any gully erosion created by improper termination.
Mr Ezeobi said the ministry of works with the assistance and oversight of the law makers will continue to deliver the vision of Governor Chukwuma Soludo which is to have a liveable and prosperous homeland.
He noted that already a team from the ministry had inspected the Akpaka Nsugbe road and has made proposals that will ensure that the project serves the people of the state with emphasis on creating new decongestion for Onitsha and environs.
He commended the immediate past Commissioner for works, Mr Austin Okeoma for completing and delivering over one hundred and sixty road projects across the state during the first tenure of the Soludo led administration.
In a remark , the Chairman House Committee on Works , Mr Emmanuel Nwafor said the law makers will continue to carry out their statutory role of oversight on all projects being executed by the executive arm of government.
