The wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Mrs Nonye Soludo, has cautioned against the continued threat of Tuberculosis which is a silent killer across the country.
Mrs Soludo stated this in a message to mark World Tuberculosis day, stressing that Tuberculosis remains a major health challenge in Nigeria.
She observed that hundreds of thousands of people and families were severely affected every year, describing the mortality figures from the contagious disease as disturbing, noting that ending TB is possible if Nigerians take smarter and more sincere actions.
Doctor Soludo expressed happiness that TB diagnosis and treatment are completely free in all public health facilities and many private hospitals across Nigeria.
She urged residents not to hesitate to report the symptoms like persistent cough lasting for more than three weeks, chest pain, coughing up blood or phlegm, fever, night sweats, fatigue, and unexplained weight loss or rush to any nearby health facility and get themselves checked.
