The Anambra State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of Mr Tobechukwu Nweke, SAN as Attorney-General of the State and Mr Izuchukwu Okafor as the Commissioner for Finance.

The confirmation followed a letter by Governor Professor Chukwuma Soludo asking the law makers to consider and confirm the appointments of the two nominees in line with the provisions of sections 192 and 195 of the 1999 constitution as amended .

The Speaker Mr Somtochukwu Udeze read the letter during plenary and thereafter invited the nominees to appear before the House for screening .

During the screening,the law makers including Mr Obi Nweke of Anambra East Constituency , Mr Noble Igwe of Ogbaru Constituency 1 and Mr Ejike Okechukwu representing Anaocha Constituency 2, took their turns to ask them questions as well as commend them for their outstanding performances during the first tenure of Governor Soloudo.

The Chairman Screening Committee and Deputy Speaker of the House, Mr Chukwuma Okoye while moving a motion for the nominees to be confirmed, expressed the hope that they would bring their wealth of knowledge to bare in the discharge of their functions to the state.

After reporting progress from the Committee on the whole and confirming the nominees, the Speaker Mr Somtochukwu Udeze congratulated them on their new appointments and urged them to be committed to their to duties.

In a vote of thanks, the newly confirmed Attorney-General of the State, Tobechukwu Nweke SAN, thanked the law makers and gave an assurance that they would serve the state to the best of their abilities.

Radio Nigeria Correspondent Uche Ndeke reports that the Governor Soludo in another letter dated 23rd of March 2026 prayed the House to consider and approve the appointment 16 special advisers to assist him in running the affairs of the state.
