The Anambra State government has developed DocTracker, a digital document and project tracking system that will be deployed to monitor infrastructure projects across the state.
DocTracker which has two main parts was developed by the ICT Agency in collaboration with the Ministry of Works.
The first is Document Management, which involves tracking official documents in their entirety while the second is project and contractor management, designed to help the government monitor projects, contractors, field activities, project sites and progress being made during implementation.
The Managing Director of the ICT Agency, Mr Chukwuemeka Agbata, said the system would enable better monitoring of projects from contract award through construction and completion.
He gave the assurance during a joint review of the platform with the Ministry of Works at the ministry’s office in Awka.
The Commissioner for Works, Mr Okey Ezeobi, emphasised the need to make DocTracker more public-facing so that citizens can follow the progress of road projects and pay attention to maintenance needs where necessary.
Responding, Mr Agbata assured the Commissioner that the recommendations from the review would be implemented ahead of the platform’s official launch.
Correspondent Uche Ndeke reports that the engagement also featured continued training for engineers in the Ministry to equip them with the knowledge required to operate the application effectively when it becomes operational.
