The new Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, Nnanna Ama, has charged Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and other Sectional heads to embrace proactive, intelligence-led and community-oriented policing.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga in a statement indicates that Commissioner gave the directives in his maiden meeting with key officers of the Command.
The statement emphasises that the Commissioner enjoined the officers to take full responsibility for security in their jurisdictions, and ensure effective deployment of personnel and resources.
It explains that the performance of the strategic officers will be closely assessed based on their effectiveness in traffic management, maintenance of law and order, crime prevention and prompt response to security challenges.
The statement urges the commanders to demonstrate leadership, visibility and operational control.
According to the statement the Commissioner of Police also charged the commanders to strengthen collaboration with other security agencies, community stakeholders and the public, stressing that effective policing requires collective responsibility and timely sharing of credible intelligence.
