Anambra State government has commenced data collection and other processes required for the successful Mid-Term Review of its health sector strategic blueprint.
The exercise will undertake wholestic assessment of achievements recorded in the sector, identify implementation challenges and charting ways forward to improve health outcomes for the citizens.
The review will focus on outputs and achievements at the midpoints of 2024, 2025, and 2026, with relevant departments expected to provide accurate data on key indicators and interventions
The Commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike, described the review as a critical exercise that would enable the state to evaluate progress and identify gaps in the implementation of key health interventions.
He assured that the state government remains committed to building a resilient health system through evidence-based planning, improved service delivery, and the effective utilisation of health data.
Dr Obidike reiterated the state government’s readiness to collaborate with the Federal Government and other stakeholders to deliver better healthcare for the people.
Earlier the facilitator of Mid Term Review Data Collection Process Dr Dozie Nwokedi explained that the exercise provides the platform for health departments and agencies to develop achievable and targeted programmes and projects for better health care delivery in the state.
He maintained that the review is not meant to indict officials and staff the ministry or its agencies but to objectively document achievements in priority areas and highlight existing challenges.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Dr Obiageli Uchebo, thanked the review team for their engagement and assured of the Ministry’s full cooperation throughout the exercise.
