The Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Works and Infrastructure has strongly condemned the activities of some land developers allegedly destroying sections of the ongoing Ndiukwuenu-Awgbu Road project with heavy equipment.
The committee made the condemnation during an on-the-spot assessment visit to the project site.
The law makers warned that such unwholesome actions could seriously undermine the state government’s determined efforts to improve infrastructure across Anambra State.
The Chairman House Committee on Works Mr Emma Nwafor, stated that the matter would be promptly reported to the state government for urgent intervention.
The lawmakers also commended the contractors handling the project for the quality of work executed so far.
During the inspection exercise, the committee also visited the 3.5-kilometre link road between Igboukwu and Amichi where they observed that the project was nearly completed and generally satisfactory.
Mr Nwafor noted that the road boasts a good width and carriageway, with well-constructed drainage systems, culverts, and other interception structures, except for one catchment area that still requires attention.
At the Akpo-Ogboji Road project, the committee confirmed that construction work has been fully completed.
Speaking during the inspection, the member representing Aguata One Constituency, Mr Anayo Okpalaeke, expressed gratitude to Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his prompt and positive response to the needs of the people through these road projects.
