Governor Alex Otti of Abia State says he remains faithful to the platform that brought him to office irrespective of interest of some notable politicians.
Governor Otti who stated this while responding to question from Journalists during the December edition of his Monthly Media Parley, tagged “Governor Otti Speaks,” on speculations surrounding his political future following the exit of the party’s 2023 Presidential Candidate, Mr Peter Obi insisted that his focus remains on good governance and consolidation of the mandate.
The Governor who explained that he joined the Labour Party before Mr Peter Obi said remained committed in continued efforts to stabilize the LP stressing that plans to alternative political options could only arise after exhausting internal efforts to fortify the Labour Party.
While reacting to comments credited to the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Benjamin Kalu, inviting him to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), Governor Otti said he had taken a conscious decision not to be distracted by political suggestions.
He commended the Deputy Speaker’s recent philanthropic gestures to vulnerable persons in the state during this festive period.
The Governor, who highlighted achievements and ongoing reforms across key sectors of the State’s economy, said his administration embarked on the renovation and equipping of Primary Healthcare Centres across the State, with an initial target of 200 facilities.
On Workers’ welfare, the Governor stated that Abia workers have consistently received their monthly salaries on or before the 28th of every month, and assured Civil Servants that payment of their leave allowances has been approved.
