The Deputy Speaker, Federal House of Representative, Chief Benjamin Kalu has presented fund worths one billion naira to support two thousand people across Abia state in various businesses.
Handing over the cheque to the state chairman of the All Progressive Congress APC , Dr Kingsley Onogbu during the annual Christmas Food Distribution and Town hall meeting organized in Bende field , Chief Kalu urged the people of the state to go the Renewed Hope office of the President in Umuahia to acquire forms to enable them to access the support fund.
He urged the prospective beneficiaries to return the forms before February 2026 to enable them to access 500,000 naira support each and promised to connect Bank of Industry, Bank of Agriculture, SMEDAN, Credit Corp amongst others to stimulate economic development in the state.
According to the Deputy Speaker, President Tinubu is performing various sectors of the economy and pledged to work tirelessly to ensure that Abia state was not left out in the country irrespective of party affiliations.
The Deputy Speaker who highlighted his legislative records and other achievements in two years of his office, explained that he has sponsored 127 bills the National Assembly and executed 50 constituency projects to improve the standards of his constituents.
While maintaining that his two years in office had benefited Abia state a lot, Chief Kalu advised Governor Alex Otti not to run opposition but join the ruling party to fast track more development in the state.
He further called for patience and civic faith among his faithful as arrangements were in place by the President to launch unemployment scheme to cater for the unemployed youths and ugred Ania residents to be fervent with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Ahmed Tinubu’s efforts in rebuilding Nigeria.
In their separate good will messages, the House of Representatives member representing Ukwa East and Ukwa West Federal Constituency Chief Chris Nkwonta, Dame Blessing Nwagba from Ania Central and Chief Cosmos Ndukwe from Abia North amongst others all commended the Deputy Speaker for distinguishing himself as a lawmaker of standing and a repute and pledged their loyalty to him and President Tinubu.
Correspondent Peace Agbo reports that 15 trailer loads of rice and cash gifts worth 100 million naira were given to 100 churches including Renewed Hope Northern Communities in Abia state for the 2025 Christmas celebration.
