The Commander, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA Anambra State, Mr Charles Orakwue has charged students to ignore all negative assumptions and conclusions about education and concentrate on their studies head on.

The Commander gave the charge at the Ebele Okeke Federal Secretariat Awka where students from Secondary Schools across the state converged for the agency’s annual quiz competition.

He reminded students that hard work, determination, discipline and consistency were indispensable in the pursuit of a successful life.

Speaking on the competition which was initiated eleven years ago, he maintained that the NDLEA in Anambra state was poised to rewarding hard work and high intellectual capacity with mouth watering gifts to deserving students every year as a way of retaining students interest in academics.

While warning the students to desist from any form of illicit drug intake, Mr Orakwue appealed to them to share their knowledge on the dangers of illicit drug intake and abuse of other drugs with their siblings, parents and other relatives to safeguard the future of their families.

He emphasized that bad company can turn an intelligent, hardworking student into a helpless person, warning against keeping friends who engage in anti social behaviour.

The NDLEA Commander expressed appreciation to the philanthropist whose financial support has kept the agency’s dream alive for the past eleven years while calling on other good spirited individuals to join hands in returning young people’s attention back to their books.

Some teachers and students who spoke with Radio Nigeria expressed their joy at being part of the competition while promising to play by the rules .

The NDLEA annual quiz competition in Anambra state takes place in stages with the grand finale always coming up on the United Nations Day on Drugs.

About fifty secondary schools from across the six education zones in the state are participating in the competition.
