The Anambra State government has presented certificates of recognition to six newly elected traditional rulers in the area

They include Igwe Benson Chinedu Madubuko of Adazi-Ani, Igwe Ejike Ugoagbala of Ora-eri and Igwe Ben Chibuzor Okekeifi of Ndiowu.

Others are Igwe Justice Samuel Nwachukwu Okoye of Azigbo, Igwe Clement Nchetaka Onwuka of Isulo and Igwe Uche Okonkwo of Amawbia.

Presenting the certificates at Light House, Awka ,Governor Chukwuma Soludo underscored the significant role that traditional rulers play within local governance structures.

The Governor urged the monarchs to strictly adhere to the laws and regulations guiding their various communities in order to mitigate the frequent challenges and conflicts that might emanate.

Governor Soludo further implored the traditional leaders to embody the qualities of light and father figures for all members of their communities, and also called upon the residents to actively claim ownership of and sustain the traditional institutions that have been integral to their cultural heritage.

Earlier, in a remark, the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Mr. Tony-Collins Nwabunwanne, explained the significance of the traditional rulers’ emergence, pointing out that their ascension to leadership roles followed the guidelines established within the constitutions of their respective communities prior to their formal presentation to the Governor.

He noted that the Public- Private- Community Partnership(PPCP) model was beginning to yield positive results, highlighting how several of the newly recognized rulers had made substantial contributions to the development of their communities.

Also speaking , the Chairman of the Anambra State Traditional Rulers’ Council, Igwe Chidubem Iweka, expressed optimism that the traditional rulers would perform creditably to the satisfaction of their subjects who elected them.

He said that the elected leaders were both tested and trusted, which he believed would result in a decrease in discord, animosity, and chaos within the communities they serve.
