The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Anambra State Command, has arrested three suspects for the vandalism of government properties and erecting structures on public land.
They were apprehended on Monday, afternoon by operatives of the Corps in collaboration with Agunachemba Security Outfit in Onitsha Local Government Area.
The suspects were identified as Oseloka Anyaorah of Umuasi village, Onitsha who claimed to be the Chairman of Ogbo Family, John Nwobodo and Ifeanyi Nwancho both of whom claimed to be hired by Anyaorah for work in his site.
Items recovered from them include one government signpost, sheets of zinc, nails and other building materials.
The suspects are alleged to have conspired , damage and remove parts of government infrastructure belonging to Onitsha South Local Government Area.
The NSCDC State Commandant, Maku Olatunde, condemned the act and described the vandalism of public property as economic sabotage against the government and people of Anambra State.
He directed that the suspects be profiled and charged to court upon conclusion of investigations and called on traditional rulers, town union leaders and Anambra residents to provide timely information to security agencies to prevent further vandalism of government facilities.
