The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Ama, has pledged a comprehensive review of the Command’s policing strategies with emphasis on stronger intelligence gathering, intelligence-led and technology-driven operations, improved operational efficiency and proactive crime prevention.
Addressing journalists at his first press briefing at the Command Headquarters in Amawbia, CP Ama said the Command would also reinforce community policing initiatives, deepen collaboration with sister security agencies, organised vigilante groups and other critical stakeholders, and continue to build public confidence through effective partnership and engagement.
He stated that the clear objective was to make Anambra State safer, more secure and more peaceful for every resident and visitor.
The Police Chief expressed deep sadness and concern over the discovery of four unconscious children aged 6, 9, 12 and 15 years in Ideani Community.
Despite strenuous medical efforts, three of the children were certified dead while the fourth is receiving intensive care and fighting for survival.
CP Ama announced that the Anambra State Police Command would bear the full medical expenses of the surviving child and closely monitor the treatment and recovery to ensure every necessary intervention is provided.
He assured that the circumstances surrounding the incident would be investigated with the highest level of professionalism out of respect for the sanctity of human life.
He commended the dedication and sacrifices of officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force, other security agencies and residents of Anambra for their continued cooperation and partnership in maintaining peace and public safety.
CP Ama thanked the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, for the confidence reposed in him and appreciated the Anambra State Government under Governor Chukwuma Soludo for its unwavering support to the Police and other security agencies.
He appealed to members of the media to uphold the highest standards of professionalism by ensuring that reports remain factual, balanced, responsible and guided by the overriding interest of public safety and national security.
Urging residents of Anambra to remain law-abiding, vigilant and security-conscious, CP Ama called on the public to provide timely and credible information and to report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest Police Station or through the emergency lines 112 or 07039194332.
The Commissioner assured residents of Anambra that the Command under his leadership would perform its constitutional responsibilities with integrity, fairness, professionalism and respect for the rule of law, remaining resolute in protecting lives and property and maintaining public order throughout the State.
