A joint security team led by the Anambra State Police Command has intercepted two vehicles and arrested nine criminal suspects in Isuofia, Aguata Local Government Area.
The operation, carried out in the early hours of Thursday, 28th August 2026, was conducted by the Joint Operation Base, Aguata.
Operatives of the Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Army, Department of State Services, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigeria Immigration Service, and Agunechemba Security Outfit took part in the stop-and-search exercise.
A statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra state, Tochukwu Ikenga said the intercepted vehicles , a custom-coloured Sienna and an ash-coloured Toyota RAV4 were thoroughly searched and
Three AK-47 rifles, one pump-action gun, charms and other items were recovered from them.
The statement indicates that the suspects, made up of seven males and two females, have been taken into custody for questioning and further investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, Nnanna Ama, has commended the operatives for the successful operation and urged them to remain vigilant, describing the recovery as a product of intelligence-led policing and effective stop-and-search operations.
