Women Town Planners under the auspices of Association of Women Town Planners in Nigeria have encouraged girls to strive to actualize their dreams and set goals in dignity and hardwork.
The National Chairman, Association of Women Town Planners in Nigeria, Dr Veronica Okoye stated this on behalf of the members of the association on the occasion of this year’s International Women’s Day.
She emphasized that when Women thrive, families, communities and nations equally thrive, buttressing the critical roles women play in families and nation building.
Dr Okoye noted that the theme of this 2026 International Women’s Day ,which is,”Give to Gain”, calls for policies and practices that are Women and girl friendly and involve them in decision-making.
The National Chairman, Association of women Town Planners in Nigeria equally believed that diverse perspectives lead to better decision-making and more resilient economies.
Dr Veronica Okoye and some other Women Town Planners later visited Girls Secondary School, Abayi, Umuocham,Aba, Abia state and distributed items such as excerise books, biros, sanitary pads, drinks and biscuits to the school girls.
International Women’s Day is marked on March 8 every year and highlights the issues still impacting Women’s advancement, such as gender based violence, discrimination and poor sanitary conditions in many schools and communities .
