Operatives of the Inspector-General of Police’s Violent Crime Response Unit have intensified offensive operations across Anambra State to combat violent crimes.
This follows the appointment of a Commander for the Unit in the State.
He is CSP Ahmed Ayuba who before his appointment served as the Officer-in-Charge of the Special Anti-Cult Unit in Anambra State Police Command.
A statement by the Police Public Relations officer in Anambra State, Tochukwu Ikenga
advises the public not to panic over the increased movement and presence of tactical police officers as the Operatives of the unit have stepped up coordinated raids, surveillance and stop-and-search operations to identify criminal flashpoints across the State with the aim of combating
kidnapping, armed robbery and cult-related violence.
The statement enjoins the residents to remain law-abiding and cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and useful information that could aid the ongoing operation against crimes
