The Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has led the State Executive Council in hosting a grand send-forth ceremony for the outgoing State Commissioner of Police, AIG Ikioye Orutugu, who has officially retired from active service.
The special event, described as the first of its kind in the history of the state, took place during the State Executive Council meeting held at the Light House, Awka.
It drew top government functionaries, security commanders and members of the state cabinet to celebrate the retiring police chief’s dedicated career and tenure in Anambra State.
Speaking during the ceremony, Governor Soludo lauded AIG Orutugu for his unwavering commitment, professionalism and tactical leadership in maintaining law and order throughout his time at the helm of the Anambra State Police Command.
The Governor noted that the outgoing commissioner, in collaboration with sister agencies, played a crucial role in strengthening the security architecture and fostering collaboration between the police force and the state government to safeguard lives and property.
In his remarks, AIG Orutugu expressed profound gratitude to the Governor, the Executive Council and the entire people of Anambra State for their cooperation, logistical support and partnership during his service.
He attributed the operational successes recorded by the command to the collective resolve of security personnel and the strong backing of the state administration.
Earlier, the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Chiamaka Nnake, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Tochukwu Nweke, the State Director of the Department of State Services, Mr. Chuks Anukposi, and the Traditional Ruler of Uke, Igwe Charles Agbala, took turns to eulogise the efforts of the Police Commissioner during his service days.
Correspondent Uche Ndeke reports that high point of the executive send-forth session was the presentation of a commemorative token of appreciation to the retired police commissioner in recognition of his meritorious service to the state and the nation.
