A Consultant Family Physician in Nnamdi Azikiwe Teaching Hospital Nnewi,Dr Ngozi Okonkwo has advocated collaborative efforts by the government and relevant stakeholders in the health sector to address issues of Cardiovascular health disease in Nigeria.

Doctor Okonkwo made the call during a medical outreach and health awareness for people in Idemili North and South Federal Constituency.

Doctor Okonkwo noted that the situation demands a holistic approach that would public awareness to sensitize people on the need to regular medical checks to ascertain their health condition.

The Member representing Idemili North and South at the National Assembly, Mr Uche Okonkwor noted that without good health it would be difficult for Nigerians or benefit from the dividends of democracy.

Mr Okonkwor explained that the programme was to to provide medical and routine checks for his constituents especially in the area of optical calibration, cancer awareness and malaria which is posing serious challenges to the people.

Some of the people who benefited from the programme including Mr Titus Orji and Mr Ifeanyichukwu Emefo described it as a worthy exercise that would boost health services in the area.
