APC South-East Women Leader Urges Greater Political Inclusion Ahead of 2027
The South-East Zonal Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Oby Ajih, has called on governors and political stakeholders in the region to create more opportunities for women to contest elective positions ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Dr. Ajih made the appeal in Enugu during a one-day workshop organised by her office in collaboration with the South-East chapter of the Nigeria League of Women Voters (NILOWV). She stressed the importance of inclusive governance and urged political leaders to move beyond symbolic gestures by actively supporting women’s participation in politics.

She emphasised the need to equip women aspirants with the knowledge and strategies required to navigate and overcome barriers in the political space, particularly as party primaries and the 2027 elections approach.

Lamenting the low level of female representation since the return of democratic governance, Dr. Ajih described women in the South-East as highly capable and result-driven when given the opportunity to lead.

She further noted that NILOWV remains a non-partisan platform open to women across all political parties, including APC, PDP, Labour Party, and ADC, united by a shared goal of promoting good governance.

In a goodwill message, the Abia state Chairperson of NILOWV and 2027 Senatorial Aspirant,Dr.Blessing Nwagba said the workshop aimed to empower women to actively participate in politics and overcome self doubt. The theme of the workshop which attracted stakeholders and women from the South East was “Breaking Barriers , promoting women participation in politics and supporting good governance.
