The Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Mr
Somtochukwu Udeze, has commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his remarkable progress in healthcare delivery across the state.

In a statement, the Speaker applauded the Soludo led administration for giving priority attention to key areas of the health sector, including infrastructure development and improved personnel services.
He noted that these efforts have significantly strengthened healthcare outcomes and accessibility for residents.

Mr Udeze made the remarks while congratulating Governor Soludo on his recent recognition as a “Nurses-Friendly Governor.”

The award was presented by the Commonwealth Nurses and Midwives Federation at its 2026 conference held in Abuja.

According to the Speaker, the honour is a reflection of the governor’s consistent achievements and verifiable milestones in the health sector.
He emphasized that the administration’s scorecard played a major role in earning the prestigious recognition.

The Speaker, Highlighted some of these achievements, to include the employment of over one thousand health personnel, the introduction of free antenatal care and delivery services, and the establishment of thirty cervical cancer screening centres across the state.

He also cited the development of a medical oxygen production plant and the installation of endoscopy units in general hospitals, alongside ongoing local and international training programmes for healthcare workers.

The Speaker further noted that the state government has completed the renovation and modernization of general hospitals in Umueri, Ekwulobia, and Enugwu-Ukwu,covering the three senatorial zones.

In addition, five new general hospitals have been constructed in Okpoko, Fegge, Aguleri-Otu, Anaku, and Oromaetiti, particularly boosting healthcare access in Anambra North.

Mr Somto Udeze commended the Commonwealth Nurses and Midwives Federation for recognizing what he described as “outstanding achievements” in the state’s health sector.

He expressed confidence that the award would further inspire the governor to sustain and expand on his developmental strides.
