Anambra State Government has destroyed the Shrine of the controversial Native Doctor; Mr. Chidozie Nwangu, also known as Akwa Akuko Tiwara Aki , who was sentenced to two years in prison by an Awka High court in a judgment against him yesterday.
The court in the judgement after the native doctor pleaded guilty to the allegations brought against by Anambra State government also ordered the destruction of his shrine.
The destruction of the shrine at Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area was carried out by the personnel of the State security outfit, Agunachemba and supervised by the Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Community Security, Mr Ken Emekayai .
Speaking during destruction, Mr Emeakayi emphasized that the action was in execution of the order of the State High Court , that the shrine should be destroyed and the property forfeited to the state government.
The Special Adviser, emphasized that the government was not against any religious practice but frowns at the use of religion to defraud unsuspecting citizens of the state and other people resident in Anambra State.
Mr. Emeakayi advised youths in the state against believing in getting rich quick without hard work or through fetish means stressing that such belief often lead to self destruction.
The destroyed shrine contain many items including clay pots, pictures of different persons, varieties moulded and carved images, different colours of clothing materials and other objects.
Correspondent Uche Ndeke reports that the
materials were gathered together and burnt during the demolition of the shrine.
