The Anambra State government has taken delivery of four new speed boats to enhance water transportation for riverine communities in the state.
The government also launched a Code Boat Identification System to reinforce it’s policy on integrated transport and stakeholders engagement.
The Commissioner for Transport, Mr Edward Ibuzo, inaugurated the Boats at Odotemaka Riverside, Nzam in Anambra West Local Government Area.
Mr Ibuzo described the project as a reflection of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s vision for an integrated transport network.
He stressed that expanding safe water transportation would boost mobility, economic activities, tourism and sustainable development across the state.
The Chairman Anambra West Local Government Area , Mrs. Edith Ndive, reaffirmed her administration’s dedication to improving the welfare of residents through strategic transport investments.
She said the water transport initiative is aimed at enhancing transportation, safety and accessibility for residents in riverine communities.
