The Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Mr Somtochukwu Udeze, has described the thirty-five years of Anambra State as a period of remarkable growth and development.
Mr Udeze said the achievement was driven by the hard work and entrepreneurial spirit of the people, as well as the purposeful leadership of successive administrations, including the present government of Professor Chukwuma Soludo.
The Speaker stated this in a goodwill message to the government and people of the state to mark the thirty-fifth anniversary of its creation.
He said Anambra had passed through different stages of development and remained one of Nigeria’s most important states, particularly in the areas of development, rule of law, legislation and good governance.
The Anambra State Number One Lawmaker paid tribute to the founding fathers of the state for their efforts towards its creation, and prayed for continued peace, unity and development.
He also commended Governor Soludo for what he described as bold steps towards building an Anambra State that would become the envy of Africa in the next thirty-five years.
Mr Udeze noted with pride the contributions of prominent Anambra citizens to Nigeria’s political and economic development.
He cited Nigeria’s first President, the late Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe; former Vice President, the late Dr. Alex Ekwueme; and foremost industrialist, the late Sir Louis Odumegwu Ojukwu, among others.
The Speaker said the contributions of such personalities had placed Anambra in a position of pride in the history of Nigeria.
He assured the people that the State House of Assembly under his leadership would remain committed to enacting laws and making resolutions that would promote development and improve the welfare of the people.
Mr Udeze urged Anambra citizens to support the Soludo administration’s development efforts and shun actions capable of tarnishing the image and reputation of the state.
