Governor Alex Otti of Abia state has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring improved access to quality healthcare services across the state.

Governor Otti made the remarks during a courtesy visit by the leadership of Abia Diaspora Commission and the medical team of Abia Global Medical Mission 2025 at the Government House Umuahia .

The Governor described the medical outreach which was organized by the state government in partnership with the commission, initiative reflects the government’s commitment to democratising healthcare over the past 30 months.

He emphasised that healthcare remains a right, not a privilege, and expressed the government’s committed to ensuring that inability to pay does not prevent access to quality services in Abia.

While describing the initiative as transforming lives, reducing mortality, and providing residents with opportunities to fulfil their potential through improved health outcomes assured continued government support, encouraging the commission and medical personnel to maintain collaboration.

In his remark, the Commissioner for Health, Professor Enoch Uche, said that the state government had evolved a roadmap to boost access to quality healthcare and it runs on three pillars

He said that over 3,000 adults benefited from healthcare services, education, treatment, and other medical interventions while Over 120 medical surgeries were performed during the outreach.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Abia Diaspora Commission,Mr Alwell Agbara, commended the efforts of the present administration in promoting universal healthcare in the state.

In an interview with newsmen, Dr Emmanuel Ekekwe, a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist, explained the nature of services being provided during the outreach said that his team focuses specifically on gynecological cases.
