ANAMBRA SPEAKER TASKS NEW LG MAYORS ON GRASSROOTS DEVELOPMENT, GOOD GOVERNANCE

The Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Mr Somtochukwu Udeze, has charged the newly sworn-in local government Mayors, their Deputies and Councillors to key into the Agenda of Governor Chukwuma Soludo by domesticating the development efforts and initiatives of the state government in their various council areas.

In a goodwill message issued on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Reverend Emma Madu, the Speaker stressed that the officials, being closer to the rural dwellers, should always renew the people’s confidence in the administration through hard work and commitment to good governance at the grassroots.

He described the recent swearing-in of the 21 local government council Mayors, their Deputies and the inauguration of Councillors by Governor Soludo as part of the genuine efforts of the state government to extend democracy and development to the grassroots.

While expressing trust and confidence in the ability of the new Mayors to deliver on their mandates, the Speaker reminded them of the pivotal roles which Local Government Administration has continued to play in the development and good governance of the state.

Mr Udeze also appreciated the efforts of Governor Soludo in achieving impressive security of lives and property of the citizenry through a security architecture.

He appealed to security personnel in the state to advance the Governor’s efforts by driving the security operations to various local council areas.
