Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have arrested a 16-year-old male suspect in connection with an alleged armed robbery incident in Amansea, Awka North Local Government Area of the State.
The suspect, identified as Udochukwu Nwankwo, was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday, this week during a routine security patrol by the police team.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, preliminary information reveals that the suspect, alongside two other accomplices who are currently at large, allegedly attacked a guest at a hotel in the area and snatched her mobile phone and other personal belongings.
The operatives also recovered a shiny metallic lighter designed to resemble a pistol, which the suspect allegedly used to threaten and dispossess the victim of her valuables
During interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to using the recovered object to threaten victims during the robbery.
The statement emphasises that the Police Command has intensified efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects and bring them to justice.
