The Anambra State Football Association (ANSFA) has successfully conducted its elective congress, returning the incumbent Chairman, General Chikelue Iloenyosi, for another four-year term.
The keenly awaited congress, which held in the state capital, Awka, witnessed the participation of 23 accredited delegates who conducted proceedings in a peaceful and transparent atmosphere.
The Chairman of the electoral committee, Mr Darlington Okeke alongside other members counted and announced that General Iloenyosi, who stood unopposed, polled all the 23 votes to secure a landslide victory.
In a related development, Johnson Ifejika who scored 19 votes ,emerged as the new Vice Chairman , defeating the incumbent, Aniekwenam who got four votes.
Three members were afterwards elected from each of the Senatorial zone to form the Football Association Board.
The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Musa Gusau who was represented at the event by Alhaji Muhamed Ameenu commended the peaceful conduct of the congress and charged sports administrators in the state to remain focused and committed to the development of football.
In his acceptance speech, the re-elected Chairman, General Chikelue Iloenyosi, expressed profound gratitude to the delegates for the overwhelming confidence reposed in him.
He pledged to run an all-inclusive administration that would accommodate all stakeholders in the pursuit of excellence in Anambra football.
Iloenyosi said he would work with the Anambra government and sports writers to ensure that football retained its place as the king of sports in Anambra
The elective congress was widely described as a landmark in the annals of the Association, heralding a new era of unity and purposeful leadership in grassroots football development in the state.
Radio Nigeria Correspondent Uche Ndeke reports that delegates from the twenty one local government areas including representatives of Coaches Association and players Union voted during the elective congress.
The winners were later issued with certificate of return .
