The Anambra State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of Dr. Ezeka Augustine Uwaeme as the new Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra State Health Insurance Agency, ASHIA.
The confirmation followed a screening exercise conducted during plenary session of the House presided over by the Speaker, Dr. Somtochukwu Udeze.
During the session, which later formed a Committee of the Whole, Dr. Ezeka appeared before lawmakers and responded to questions on his vision for the state’s health insurance sector.
Members of the House Committee on Health, led by Hon. Tony Muobike, sought clarifications on key issues relating to healthcare coverage and the future direction of the agency.
Speaking after the screening, the Speaker commended Dr. Ezeka’s performance, describing his responses as professional and indicative of his preparedness for the task ahead.
Addressing the lawmakers, Dr. Ezeka pledged to sustain and expand the achievements recorded by the agency, assuring that efforts would be intensified to improve access to quality healthcare services for residents across Anambra State.
Following deliberations, the lawmakers unanimously approved his appointment.
In his remarks, Dr. Ezeka expressed appreciation to the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, for finding him worthy of the nomination. He also thanked members of the Eighth Assembly for confirming his appointment.
Congratulating the new Executive Secretary, the Speaker, Somtochukwu Udeze urged him to demonstrate dedication, commitment and innovation in the discharge of his duties, while wishing him a successful tenure at the helm of the agency.
