Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to peace, unity, and the physical transformation of Awka. the state Capital.

Governor Soludo stated this during a solidarity visit to the traditional ruler of Awka, Obi Gibson Nwosu, as part of the annual Imo Awka festival.

Governor Soludo who made history as the first governor to pay homage to the Awka monarch during the cultural celebration, underscored the importance of unified traditional leadership.

The Governor reminded the people that Igbo custom forbids a single community from having two kings.

Speaking at the festival, the governor said peace has fully returned to the state capital and assured residents that his administration was committed to rebuilding and modernizing Awka.

He announced plans for a grand, central palace that would serve the community for generations and called on the people of Awka to collaborate with the state government to bring the project to fruition.

Addressing the religious aspect of the festival, the governor said Anambra celebrates all faiths with freedom of worship guaranteed, noting that traditionalists and christians should observe their practices side by side in mutual respect and harmony.

Governor Soludo also commended the President-General and the Ọzọ Awka title holders for ensuring a peaceful celebration without any security incidents.

In their separate remarks , the President-General of Awka, Chief Fred Chinwuba, and the Traditional Prime Minister, Mr Benjamin Okoye, thanked the governor for his peace building efforts and ongoing development projects in the state capital.
