The Anambra State Head of Service, HOS, Mrs Ngozi Iwouno has called on the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, to be a catalysts for moral regeneration in the public work place.
Mrs Iwouno made the call when she received members of the Association, Anambra State Chapter in her office.
Mrs Iwouno who described female journalists as mothers and the conscience of society, emphasized that journalists hold critical responsibility in shaping societal values and charged Nawoj to lead by example and help in combating rising unethical practices in the civil service.
The Head of Service expressed concern over the declining attitude of public workers towards their duties.
She cited absenteeism, non-commitment to duty and the criminal falsification of records by some workers attempting to extend their service years.
She urged female journalists to use their platforms to fight the societal ills and promote a culture of discipline and accountability.
She frowned at the attitude of some people in the scene of accidents who instead of giving desired attention to accident victims, will rather be interested in taking photographs which she described as highly condemnable, unacceptable and needs to be addressed.
Earlier the Chairperson of Nawoj in the state, Comrade Tochukwu Ifejika told the head of service that the visit was to felicitate with her on her new appointment and pledged Nawoj’s support in projecting positively the image of state government to enhance public perception and trust in governance.
Comrade Ifejika further seeks partnership and support of the HOS in Nawoj activities to gain more, traction, improve programmes and initiatives that would benefit the state’s populace.
