The Anambra State Police Command says it has observed with concern an emerging pattern where some social media handlers record and circulate videos of individuals alleging police unprofessional conduct without recourse to the Command or verification of the facts.

The Command adds that the intent was to incite members of the public against the Police and other security agencies in the state.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Tochukwu Ikenga, however, reiterates that while every citizen has the constitutional right to express grievances and seek justice, the deliberate dissemination of unverified, misleading, or one-sided accounts that can cause public tension, undermine security operations, and erode confidence in security institutions is condemnable.

According to the statement, the Command remains committed to professionalism, accountability, and respect for fundamental human rights.

It therefore encourages members of the public to make use of the available complaint and redress mechanisms established by the Nigeria Police Force, including the Complaint Response Unit (CRU), the Police Public Relations Department, and other official channels for prompt investigation and appropriate action on allegations involving police personnel.

The statement notes that such reports could be channelled through: Command Control Room number – 07039194332,
OC X Squad- 07015949305,
PPRO -08039334002,
Officer in charge of Anti -Cult/VCRU -07030679375,
Rapid Response Squad- 07058040015 and
Complainant Respond Unit – 08069262121

The Police Command further warns against the use of social media platforms to spread false information, incite hatred, or obstruct lawful security duties, noting that such actions could attract legal consequences.

The statement further assures the people of Anambra State that it would continue to collaborate with other security agencies and community stakeholders to improve public safety, maintain law and order, and strengthen trust through transparent and community- oriented policing.
