Mothers have been urged to emulate the blessed Virgin Mary by imbibing the virtues that characterised her life, while on earth.
The Resident Priest, Sacred Heart Catholic Chaplaincy, Ngozika Housing Estate, Awka, Reverend Father Maximus Okonkwo stated this in a homily during this year’s Mothers Day celebration.
He advise mothers to live the lives of great women in the Bible, who woŕshipped God truthfully, while urging them to use prayers in sustaining peace and Love in their families.
Reverend Father Okonkwo also described mothers as precious gifts to the society and appreciated them for the roles they played in sustaining their various families.
The President, CWO in the parish, Mrs Chinonye Idigo, expressed gladness for the successful celebration and urged mothers to always manifest the spirit of forgiveness and show love to one another
A mother, Mrs Amaka Chukwulobelu appreciated God for making it posible for her to be alive to witness this year’s celebration.
Lady Uju Oliobi expressed happiness that the parish had mass turnout of members during the programme and thanked God for a successful mothers day celebration
Doctor Ifeoma Ugbo and Mrs Ogochukwu Chinweze said the gift of motherhood was not an easy task, while asking God for wisdom in carrying out their activities.
Others who spoke to Radio Nigeria, Lady Grace Amobi, Mrs Amaka Obigwe and Mrs Vivian Eya, expressed gratitude to God for giving them the opportunity to witness another mothering day and thanked all the mothers who made this year’s celebration colourful.
