Police in Ebonyi State have taken into custody a twenty year old man Damian Oforbuike who allegedly murdered his mother for refusing to bathe him in Ohatekwe Ukawu in Onicha Local Government Area.
Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr Joshua Ukandu said though he did not have details, he was aware of plans to charge the suspect in court.
Radio Nigeria gathered that Damian Oforbuike, attacked his mother, Onyemaechi, with a machete after she refused a demand to bathe him.
According to an Eyewitness, the suspect fled into a nearby forest after the attack, resulting in the youths of the community to mobilise and apprehend him.
In a viral video recorded during his interrogation by community youths, the suspect claimed he committed the crime because his mother refused to bathe him as well as declined to provide funds to set up a barbing salon for his brother who had completed apprenticeship.
